By emulating asymmetries of the temporal receptive field (TRF) profiles of auditory mid-brain neurons, we obtain more than $13\% $ relative improvement in word error rate on OGI-Digits database. Experiments on TIMIT database confirm that proposed modifications are indeed useful.
